Rajat Bhattacharjya

rajatb1 [at] uci [dot] edu

Hi! I am a PhD student at the University of California, Irvine in the Department of Computer Science. At UCI, I’m part of the Dutt Research Group, advised by Distinguished Prof. Nikil Dutt. I’m a full-stack computer systems researcher — spanning algorithms to architecture — with experience across diverse domains including embedded and cyber-physical systems, VLSI design, computer architecture, signal processing, machine learning, wireless communication, and biomedical systems.

My research focuses on designing intelligent, collaborative autonomous agents that embrace their physical embodiment—becoming aware of their goals, hardware constraints, and operating environment—while dynamically co-adapting across computational and communication layers, from embedded devices to programmable networks. I develop the underlying algorithms, architectures, and tools that enable such adaptive behavior, ensuring efficiency, resilience, and sustainability across the full system stack.

Previously, I worked as a Researcher at TCS Research in the Computing Systems Lab, where I focused on building energy-efficient systems for integrated sensing and communication (ISAC). Before that, I was a Software Engineer at Parallel Wireless, Inc., where I worked on 5G NR and 2G access stack development for 1.5 years.

I completed my undergraduate studies in the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering at the Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati in May 2021. During my undergraduate studies, I worked on approximate computing and its various applications. In this period, I worked with Dr. Dip Sankar Banerjee, Dr. Soumyajit Poddar, Dr. Neeraj Goel, and Prof. Muhammad Shafique.

In case you want to know more about my research or want to collaborate with me, please feel free to send me an email.
